PG Music Power Tracks Audio 9 W
DXi
software synthesizers allow PowerTracks Pro Audio to play high
quality sounds directly through your computer sound card,
without requiring any external MIDI hardware. Connecting
PowerTracks Pro Audio to the software synth as a plug-in
provides several advantages over the previous method of
connecting as a MIDI driver.
The
plug-in allows PowerTracks Pro Audio to merge/sync in any
existing audio file (vocals etc.) with the synth output. You can
also directly render your performance to a .WAV file using the
DXi plug-in.
To
use DXi with PowerTracks Pro Audio, you can think of the DXi as
a type of "MIDI Out Driver." As such, you can either visit the
MIDI Driver Setup dialog (Options | MIDI Devices) and select the
"Re-Route MIDI Playback to Default DXi Synth " checkbox to send
all MIDI playback to the default DXi synth, or you can assign
DXi synths to individual tracks.
Amazing New Audio Harmony Feature! Using TC-Helicon's industry
leading technology PowerTracks Pro Audio 9 can automatically
generate harmony parts from any solo audio track, vocal or
instrumental. This feature also makes it possible to shift the
pitch of vocal wave files using TC-Helicon's state-of-the-art
vocal pitch shifting technology.
The
Track | Generate Audio Harmonies command utilizes audio harmony
routines licensed from TC Helicon, which enable PowerTracks Pro
Audio to automatically generate harmony parts from an audio
track (such as a vocal track). You can choose Chordal Harmony
mode, which uses the song's chord symbols to determine harmony
parts. (If necessary, PowerTracks Pro Audio will automatically
attempt to determine the chord symbols.) If your song has
existing MIDI tracks with the melody line, you can tell
PowerTracks Pro Audio to use those tracks to determine the
harmony parts. There is also a Pitch Tracking mode that is
useful for pitch correction or for automatic double-tracking.
Features allow user to:
Output to single mono track, single stereo track or top multiple
mono tracks
Independently Pan Harmony Voices and set volume levels for each.
Independently apply Gender to a harmony voice - This control
affects the location of the singer's formants (and thus the
perceived size of the harmony singer).
Timing Humanization (affects all harmony voices) - When set to
zero, all harmony voices will be synchronized so that words
start and stop at the same time. As the slider is moved up
towards the maximum setting, the harmony voices will appear to
be more and more decoupled in time.
Pitch Humanization (Affects all harmony voices) - When set to
zero, the pitch of the harmony voices will be very steady and,
unlike typical human vocals, will not have small pitch
variations. By increasing the level of the pitch humanization,
you can bring in the natural pitch nuances in the original vocal
making the harmonies sound more human.
Portamento (Affects all harmony voices) - When set to zero, the
pitch of the harmony voices will jump instantly between notes
rather than smoothly as in natural human singing. Set this
slider to higher position to get smooth note transitions in your
harmony voices.
Octave Adjust (Affects all harmony voices) - When set to -1, all
the harmony voices are transposed down one octave before being
sent to the final mix. When set to +1, all harmony voices are
transposed up one octave. This slider is most useful when using
melody-based correction and the melody in your input track is an
octave higher or lower than the pitch of the input singer.
More New Features in
PowerTracks Pro Audio 9
New
Tracks Window with MIDI/Audio Overview. Tracks Window now has a
MIDI/Audio overview section which makes for more convenient and
precise editing. (The older Tracks Window is still available as
the "Classic Tracks View" window.)
New
explorer-style dockable/undockable toolbars. These exciting new
modern toolbars replace the older PowerTracks Pro Audio toolbar.
GM
Instrument Icon Display in Tracks Window. There are GM
instrument icons displayed on the Tracks Window which will
display a picture of an instrument based on a GM patch, and
audio content-type icons which allow you to display icons based
on the track's content. Custom user audio icons are also
supported.
SysEx MIDI Events. You can now insert System Exclusive data
directly into a MIDI track as MIDI events. You can record SysEx
data in real time and when you keep a take, the SysEx data will
be added to a MIDI track as SysEx events. You could also load
SysEx data into a SysEx MIDI event by receiving SysEx data from
your synth, or by loading the SysEx data from a file. SysEx MIDI
events can also be edited. NOTE: Although PowerTracks allows
SysEx MIDI events to be huge in size, we recommend limiting real
time SysEx MIDI events to 128K or less, to prevent a song from
stuttering during playback.
Boot
up in Folder of Last Session. This is a checkbox that can be
enabled or disabled. When you enable this setting, PowerTracks
will boot up in the folder of the most recently loaded file from
the previous session of PowerTracks.
Automatically load most recent file. From last PowerTracks Pro
Audio session. When selected this feature will automatically
load the most recent file from the last PowerTracks Pro Audio
session.
Scrolling Enhancements in Big Lyrics Window. Big Lyrics Window
now can be set to scroll before the bottom line instead of
scrolling after the first line.
Tablature for Additional Instruments. Notation Window supports
tablature for additional instruments. Previous versions only
displayed guitar tablature and now PowerTracks Pro Audio
supports tablature display for other stringed instruments such
as bass, ukulele, mandolin, and banjo.
Multiple Fretboard Support. The Guitar Window now supports
fretboard displays for additional instruments such as bass,
ukulele, mandolin, and banjo.
NEW
Mute/Unmute Hot Keys. New Ctrl+M and Ctrl+U hot keys let you
mute or unmute the current track. This is a convenient way to
mute or unmute any track within the Bars or Mixer Window,
without having to revisit the Tracks Window.
Independent Channel Editing for Stereo Audio Tracks. Editing in
the Audio Edit Window now lets you edit either the left or right
channels of a stereo track instead of always editing both
channels. This lets you Cut/Paste just the left or right
channel, or you can now apply a non-real time effect (Edit |
Audio Effects) to either channel independently.
Visible Countdown Dialogue. Count down dialog now visibly
displays the numbers (e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4) during the count down.
Punch In Dialogue Options. Punch in dialog now offers the option
of using the From/Thru values from the main toolbar instead of
the values in the dialog. This makes it easier to select the
punch-in region by highlighting a section in a Bars or Audio
Window.
Quick Toggle for Punch-In Mode. Pressing the Ctrl key while
clicking on the Punch button allows you to enable or disable
punch-in mode without having to go into the Punch-In Setting
Dialog.
NEW
Metronome Options. Metronome options now has Allow Count-In
Before Playback setting which enables count in before playback
and Metronome Shuts Off After Count-In setting which will shut
the metronome off after the count-in. This is useful for
practicing or playing live. Metronome options also included
Silent Count-In. This setting ensures that the Count-In will be
silent (visual count-in only). This is also useful if playing
live, but you don't want an audible count in.
Enhanced Mixer Display. Mixer Window now displays more tracks at
a time when PowerTracks Pro Audio is running at higher screen
resolutions. Mixer Window will display 24 tracks if your
computer monitor is running at 1024x768 resolution or higher.
Mixer Window will display all 48 tracks (as two rows of 24
tracks) if your computer monitor is running at 1280x1024 or
higher.
Automatic Insert/Delete Mixer Events. Delete button in mixer
will automatically Delete all Mixer Events (Volume, Pan, Reverb,
Chorus) that are currently embedded within the song's selected
tracks. Insert button in mixer will automatically Insert Mixer
Events (Volume, Pan, Reverb, Chorus) into song's non-blank
tracks.
Chord Wizard Auto-Detect Drums. The Chord Wizard (in Chords
Window) will now auto-detect drum parts on channels other than
10. This improves chord detection of MIDI and SEQ files.
Toolbar Enhancements. Main Toolbars have choice of 24x24 or
16x16 bitmap sizes.
Higher PPQ Resolution. Support for PPQ as high as 3840, which
allows for more precise audio editing, since, at higher
resolutions, each tick spans a finer section of audio.
Automatic Punch-In Override. If punch-in is enabled, PowerTracks
will now offer to keep the take as regular take rather than a
punch-in. This is helpful in situations where you accidentally
forgot to disable punch-in and intended to record a full take.
NEW
Tempo Control Interface. Tempo scroll bar on main toolbar
replaced with a spin control (with up/down arrows).
Enhanced File Location Indicator. Now location scrollbar
replaced with a horizontal slider.
Enhanced Type 0 MIDI File Processing. When loading a Type 0 MIDI
file and you say "yes" to extracting channels to multiple
tracks, then the patches/banks are now put onto the tracks/mixer
view's patch field. When loading a type 0 MIDI file, and
PowerTracks Pro Audio extracts the channels to multiple tracks,
the track names will be named based on the patch for each track.
"Hassle-Free" MIDI Rendering. Rendering your MIDI tracks to disk
is now incredibly easy and hassle-free. The Merge Audio Tracks
commands (found in the File | Wave Files submenu) now all
support DXi MIDI tracks in addition to audio tracks. If your
song's MIDI tracks use a DXi soft synth for output, you can now
quickly and easily render the DXi MIDI tracks to a .WAV or
compressed file.
Always Record Audio. "Always Record Audio too, if current track
is MIDI" setting will cause PowerTracks Pro Audio to record
audio even when the current track is to MIDI. PowerTracks Pro
Audio will offer to keep the audio take on the nearest available
blank track. This can be a "lifesaver" in those situations where
you wanted to record audio, but you accidentally selected the
current track as a MIDI track.
Notation Window Enhancement. Notation Window will draw brackets
around an accidental (#) in a situation where the same note in
the previous bar was an accidental outside the current key. This
is a courtesy which helps remind you that the note is now played
as expected within the current key.
Backup Most Recent Audio Take. "Backup Most Recent Audio Take"
setting in Audio Options dialog, when enabled, will cause
PowerTracks Pro Audio to always backup the most recent audio
take as <Temporary Audio Directory>\PTABAKx.WAV>, with x being
the audio input port number. This can be helpful in those
rare-yet frustrating situations, such as when you accidentally
recorded audio onto the WRONG audio track, or you accidentally
punched-in instead of recording a regular take. If this happens
you can undo keeping of the most recent take and then use the
Wave Files | Import Wave File command to insert the recorded
audio onto a different track, by importing the PTABAKx.WAV file
which will be located in the Temporary Audio Directory. NOTE:
You may have to edit the audio data's track location to get it
to sound at the right time if you do this.
Enhanced Paste Feature. Paste automatically works the same way
as 1-track paste if the scrap buffer only has data from one
track. In other words, if you copy or cut from a single track,
the Paste dialog will let you choose the destination track, with
the Current Track being the default value. (Now that it works
this way, you would only need to use the 1-Track Paste menu item
if you wanted to paste multiple tracks onto a single track.)
