With the optional power unit, each port supplies current ranging up to 500 mA. Usually, connected peripheral devices require less than this so that operating power may also be drawn via the USB interface to a PC or Mac (bus-powered). In the latter case, the ports collectively supply 440 mA of current. But whatever the preferred option, the USB output ports are electronically protected against overload and are equipped with status LEDs. |
